The institute exists because the job changed and the training did not.
A principal today answers for academic outcomes, statutory compliance, a payroll, a fee structure, a board and several hundred parents. Almost none of that is taught before you are handed the office.
Our story
Built by the association,
for its own members.
NIET grew out of the All India Principals Association. The people who kept being asked the same questions at chapter meetings decided to answer them properly — as a curriculum, with assessment and a certificate behind it.
The National Institute of Education & Trainings was founded by Dr. Navdeep Bhardwaj — educationist, chartered accountant, President of the All India Principals Association, and Chairman of Stepping Stone International School. He also serves as National President of the Indian Council for Sports and Training.
What he kept seeing across state chapters was a gap that no one owned. Teacher training is well served in India. Board-level governance training exists for trusts. The person in the middle — the principal, the director, the academic head — was left to learn the hardest parts of the job by making expensive mistakes in public.
NIET was set up to close that gap with contact-intensive programmes taught by people currently doing the work: serving principals, school directors, a Class-I education officer, and a chartered accountant who audits schools for a living. Every programme is dated, assessed, and closes with a certificate entered in a register that anyone can check.
Vision & mission
Every Indian school led by someone trained for the job.
Certify the office, not the individual
Train against what the role actually requires, so a certificate tells a board something specific about what this person can now do.
Teach only from practice
Every module is delivered by someone who runs that part of a school themselves. No trainer teaches a subject they have not had to answer for.
Keep the room honest
Sessions run as open floors. Participants bring live cases from their own schools and the panel answers them in front of everybody.
Make the certificate checkable
Every certificate carries an ID that resolves in a public register, so its value does not depend on how good the paper looks.
Collaborations
Three institutions stand
behind the certificate.
Each partner is named exactly as the arrangement stands. NIET does not claim affiliation it does not hold.
Certification partner
Global Council for Leadership Excellence
A national institution that co-certifies the flagship programme. GCLE’s mark appears on the certificate alongside NIET’s.
Academic partner
DBS Global University, Dehradun
Host campus for the flagship cohort. Sessions run at the Doon Business School Group campus, with DGU faculty joining the panel.
Professional body
All India Principals Association
NIET’s parent network. AIPA state presidents from Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh sit on the resource panel.
Leadership
Who carries the institute.
Bring the programme to your school.
We run the flagship as an open cohort and as an in-school intensive for a full leadership team.
